4 Ways to Deal with Dry Skin | UPMC HealthBeat
How to Avoid Dry Skin
Dry skin can be any person's worst nightmare! When you run your fingers across your skin to feel it rough, it's enough to turn a smile into an annoyed grimace. If you want to transform your dry, rough skin into smooth and shiny skin, follow these five simple steps.
Bathe or shower in lukewarm water.Use a body wash specifically for dry skin like 'Cetaphil'. These work wonders over an extended period of time.
Use a moisturizer or face lotion to recover the dry skin on your face.Use a toner afterwards to lock the moisture in.
Wet your limbs with warm water and pat them dry with a towel.Put on some lotion to keep the moisture in as well.
Put on some lotion every night before you go to bed so that your skin can become more revitalized overnight.
Wash the lotion you applied the night before each morning. This way, you don't feel so sticky. Repeat the procedure every day for best results!
- Don' bathe or shower with cold water as this dries out your skin even more.
- Do not wash your face more than twice a day because this can also help aid the extension of dry skin.
- Avoid the use of bar soap as it can scratch your skin if it is used a lot.
- Don't expect results after a few days or so. Dry skin can only fade on a long term basis. Normally it takes a couple months for changes to be noticeable.
